New Cooperation Agreement

New Cooperation Agreement

Transalpine Conference on Media Education

Representatives from several European regions adopted a joint declaration to strengthen media education at the Transalpine Conference on Media Education 2026. The initiative brings together stakeholders from Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol and Thuringia, as well as Luxembourg, represented by ALIA, which is a signatory to this agreement.

In the context of a rapidly evolving digital media landscape—particularly in light of challenges related to disinformation, hate speech and artificial intelligence—the signatories emphasize the central role of media education. It is seen both as a prerequisite for democratic participation and social responsibility, and as a fundamental cultural skill embedded in a lifelong learning perspective.

The initiative aims to firmly anchor media education within the fields of education, society and culture. It focuses on strengthening cooperation and networks, promoting the structured exchange of best practices and scientific knowledge, and developing joint projects.
