Media literacy refers to a multidimensional concept, which relate to a single competence, but aims to transmit a set of skills that fall within different thematic areas and which are expressed in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes at different levels of performance. This set of skills must be considered as evolving according to societal and technological conditions and must be acquired in the sense of lifelong learning.
Faced with the challenges posed by the proliferation of false information and hateful messages in the digital space, particular importance is attached to measures aimed at developing the critical spirit of users. To increase their resilience to these phenomena, media literacy measures aim to improve users’ ability to make informed and responsible decisions about the choice of media they use and the information and sources they trust, while adopting a responsible behaviour in their media consumption.
