Media & Me as a guest at ALIA

The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) is influencing more and more sectors of society, particularly the media. The increasing accessibility of ever more powerful AI tools has created new risk scenarios, widening the circle of potentially harmful actors who can exploit these technologies for targeted manipulation. Among the most significant challenges, the creation of ‘deepfakes’ and ‘deepnudes’ raises crucial questions for regulators. One of the main approaches to regulation is to promote the identification and labelling of AI-generated content.

Where exactly should regulation intervene to be truly effective, to really thwart the potential abuses of AI, without curbing its creative potential? This central question and various possible solutions were debated at a workshop organised by ALIA, bringing together 15 young people passionate about the media.

Media & Me – Backstage bei Medienberufen is a cross-border project initiated by the Landesmedienanstalt Saarland. It is aimed at young people in the Greater Region who are interested in the various facets of the media world. This year’s theme is: ‘The use of AI in journalism – opportunities and risks for the media landscape’. This project is co-financed by ALIA.
