DAB+, a digital radio broadcasting technology, will soon be available in Luxembourg. The Department of Media and Connectivity (SMC) has just announced the first participants selected to appear on the national multiplex. This selection marks a concrete step towards more modern, diverse, and higher-quality radio broadcasting.
As part of this process, the ALIA issued an opinion on the applications received, prior to the SMC’s decision. This opinion was in line with the Authority’s mission to ensure balanced and transparent pluralism in the media landscape.
DAB+ will eventually enable several radio stations to be broadcast simultaneously on the same frequency, with clearer sound, extended coverage and no need for an internet connection. This is a major opportunity to enrich the radio offering, promote diversity of voices and respond to FM frequency saturation. The selected radio stations are:
- Crooner Radio
- Eldoradio
- L’essentiel Radio
- LOR’FM
- Nostalgie Luxembourg
- Opus 100.7
- Radio 100.7
- Radio ARA
- Radio Latina
- RTL Deutschlands Hit-Radio
- RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg
- Today Radio
