Commission seeks feedback on the guidelines on protection of minors online

As part of the Digital Services Act (DSA), the European Commission has developed a draft of guidelines for online platforms to better protect minors on the Internet. Among the proposed measures are age verification systems, particularly for pornographic sites, as well as default privacy settings for minors’ accounts to minimize contact with strangers. More information is available on the website of the European Commission here.

This draft is currently subject to a public consultation. The European Commission is inviting all relevant stakeholders – including parents and minors themselves – to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of these guidelines until June 10, 2025.
