New chairmanship and composition of the ALIA Board of Directors

Marc Glesener will be the new chairman of the Luxembourg Independent Audiovisual Authority (ALIA). He will succeed Thierry Hoscheit, who has chaired the Authority since its creation in 2014. ALIA would also like to express its gratitude to Claude Wolf, who assumed the role of Acting President following Thierry Hoscheit’s resignation.

This appointment follows a consultation with ALIA’s Board of Directors. The Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, responsible for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue, had invited the Board to submit a proposal for the takeover of the presidency. On the basis of the Council’s unanimous opinion, the Minister decided to support the appointment of Marc Glesener, a decision formalised by Grand Ducal decree.

Marc Glesener has a vast experience in the luxembourgish media sector. A former journalist and, among other things, editor-in-chief of the daily Luxemburger Wort, he also founded the M(a)Gsolutions agency in 2012, which specialises in communications and media consultancy. He joined the ALIA Board of Directors in January 2019, bringing with him a broad experience in the journalistic and audiovisual fields.

At the same time, ALIA would also like to welcome Romain Schroeder, who joined the Board of Directors on 18 November 2024. Since 2017, Romain Schroeder has been active within the Zentrum für politesch Bildung Foundation, where he explores the interactions between digitality and democracy. He is interested in the evolution of public space and fundamental rights in the digital age, while actively contributing to media education for young people and adults. His perspective will enrich ALIA’s work in a context of digital transformation.

The other members of the Board of Directors, all of whom have been in their positions since 2014, are Valérie Dupong, Claude Wolf and Luc Weitzel.
