Random selection for the distribution of political parties at the official round tables
On 19 April 2024, the Luxembourg Independent Media Authority (ALIA) carried out three random draws to determine the distribution of the 13 political parties competing in the European elections of 9 June 2024 on the official round tables broadcast on the media of or with a public service mission (MSP), namely Radio 100.7, RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg and RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg.
Following the meeting of the ALIA Board of Directors on 15 April 2024, an amendment to the guidelines was adopted, increasing the number of official round tables from one to two per MSP. These changes proved necessary due to the large number of parties that submitted a list for these European elections and the resulting technical constraints. The increase in the number of official round tables per MSP is therefore intended to facilitate structured discussions with a maximum of 7 participants per round table.
