Political opinion polls

ALIA’s mission is to ensure that the essential information that served as the basis for the implementation of the polls is kept and made available to the public. All specifications are available on the Authority’s website.

Before publishing, disseminating or commenting on a political opinion poll, the organisation that carried out the poll must make sure to file with ALIA all the documents on the basis of which the poll was carried out. The information submitted to the Authority must, according to the law, include the following details:

1. the purpose of the poll
2. the method used for data collection
3. the sampling method, namely the method by which the respondents were chosen
4. the statistical reliability of the published results
5. the name of the organisation that carried out the poll
6. the name and quality of the buyer of the poll
7. the number of people interviewed and the composition of the sample
8. the date(s) on which data were collected
9. the full text of the questions asked, including the possible answers that appear in the questionnaire or that have been communicated to the interviewees
10. the indication if raw data were corrected and according to which criteria
