Media & Me 2026

ALIA gave the general public a behind-the-scenes look at media professions

As part of the cross-border project ‘Media & Me – Backstage bei Medienberufen’, ALIA hosted a module on media regulation in Luxembourg on 22 July 2026. Thirteen young people aged between 18 and 29 are taking part in this programme to discover careers in the media and gain their first practical experience.

The workshop began with a presentation on ALIA and its remit as Luxembourg’s independent media regulator. Participants then learnt the basics of media law through real-life examples and an interactive activity, before attending a presentation on the role of an influencer and the specific characteristics of the Luxembourg market.

A live Q&A session with content creators Cecilia Said Vieira and Yannick Iannelli gave the young people the chance to discuss their career paths, the realities of the job, the opportunities offered by the ‘creator economy’ in Luxembourg, and the challenges associated with this profession. For the first time, this second part of the event was also open to the public and attracted around twenty additional participants.

The discussions explored the potential of the creator economy in a market as small as Luxembourg’s. Topics covered included the choice of language, the actual significance of subscriber numbers, the expectations of sponsors and the value of creative work. The speakers also discussed the evolution of digital strategies among Luxembourgish companies and institutions, which are gradually adopting formats that are more direct, humorous and inspired by trends specific to social media.

Launched by the Landesmedienanstalt Saarland (LMS), ‘Media & Me – Backstage bei Medienberufen’ is a cross-border project bringing together partners from Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg. Long supported by ALIA, it offers young people in the Greater Region a programme comprising several modules each year. Its aim is to introduce them to the diversity of careers in the media, develop their skills and facilitate meetings with professionals in the sector.
