Trimediale 2026

Media regulators meet in Luxembourg

On 1 and 2 October 2026, ALIA hosted the 2026 edition of the Trimediale in Luxembourg. Representatives of media regulatory authorities from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg came together to discuss current developments and shared challenges in media regulation.

One of the main topics was the work of the European Board for Media Services and how available resources can be used more effectively in the future. Discussions focused, among other things, on setting clearer priorities and procedures for drafting opinions, particularly in the area of media concentrations. Efficient cooperation is especially important for smaller regulatory authorities with limited resources.

Other topics included the regulation of artificial intelligence, media accessibility, and how national legal frameworks can keep pace with increasing media convergence and the growing role of platforms and influencers. In this context, participants also discussed the ongoing reform of media legislation in Luxembourg.

Once again, the Trimediale provided an opportunity to share experiences and different national approaches and to discuss common challenges. The exchange highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation between media regulatory authorities in a rapidly evolving media environment.

The next edition of the Trimediale will take place in Eupen, Belgium, in 2027.
