ALIA and OSAPS invite you to the conference “Media Accessibility – Accessible News and AI Solutions for Media Providers” at the Chamber of Commerce, bringing together leading media organisations from Luxembourg and abroad.
The conference will focus on European accessibility requirements in the media sector:
- The Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) addresses the accessibility of audiovisual media content and services. It focuses on measures such as subtitling, easy-to-read language, audio description and sign language for television and on-demand services.
- The European Accessibility Act (EAA) covers, among other things, the accessibility of services and technical interfaces through which users find, select and use audiovisual content. These include media providers’ websites and apps, electronic programme guides and TV user interfaces for audiovisual media services.
- The respective roles of ALIA and OSAPS in raising awareness, monitoring compliance and regulation will also be explored.
Drawing on experience reports and practical examples, the conference will present approaches to improving accessibility in media services. Participants will gain insights into the practices of national and international media organisations, including ZDF, Netflix and Amazon. The use of AI solutions to improve the accessibility of media services will also be discussed.
A panel discussion will focus on the next steps for Luxembourg.
